Yes. Both cabins welcome dogs:
Nant Gwenyn: Small enclosed decking and stony area which is fenced but not ideal for escape-artist dogs!
Nant Cafn: Decking and grass area with stock proof fencing — suitable for most dogs.
Please remember that we are a working farm, so livestock may be within close range of the cabins at certain times of year. Keep this in mind before booking or contact us if you have any concerns. Please follow the country code of dogs being on a lead in fields and footpaths.
-
The cabins are set in a quieter and generally less explored part of Eryri (Snowdonia National Park), so there is so much to discover!
There are no shops or restaurants within walking distance, and the cabins are spaced apart to offer peace, privacy and immersion in nature.Expect to hear the sounds of nature, livestock, and occasional farm vehicles — and plenty of natural tranquillity.

You’ll find plenty of local options for stocking up during your stay. The nearest market towns of Dolgellau (15 miles), Bala (13 miles), and Machynlleth (18 miles) offer supermarkets for your essentials. For a true taste of the area, we recommend visiting the independent bakeries, butchers, and delis in Dolgellau and Bala to pick up fresh local produce.
If you’re looking for high-quality Welsh treats, Dylanwad Da in Dolgellau offers a curated selection of food and wine, while Tŷ Cemaes (12 miles) is a fantastic community hub for locally sourced gifts and groceries.

Whether you're looking for a cosy pub dinner, a quick coffee, or a special evening out, there are several great options just a short drive from the cabins. All of the below recommendations are dog friendly.
Pubs & Restaurants
Y Llew Coch (The Red Lion), Dinas Mawddwy: Our local traditional pub. It’s perfect for a friendly atmosphere and a hearty post-walk drink.
Brigands Inn, Mallwyd: A historic 15th-century coaching inn offering a full restaurant menu.
Cross Foxes, near Dolgellau: Located at the foot of Cadair Idris, this is a more contemporary bar and grill.
Buckley Chinese Restaurant, Dinas Mawddwy: A great local option for takeaway or dining in (please note this is seasonal, so it's worth checking their current opening hours).
Cafés & Coffee
Caffi’r Hen Siop: A charming local spot for breakfast, light lunches, and homemade cakes.
Tiny Homes Coffee: A quirky and popular stop for high-quality caffeine fixes and treats—perfect for fuelling up before a day of exploring.
-
Absolutely! The Dinas Mawddwy area is a hiker’s paradise, offering everything from peaceful riverside strolls to rugged mountain climbs. If you are looking for that "magical" scenery, you'll find plenty of hidden waterfalls tucked away in the surrounding valleys.
Aran Fawddwy: For those seeking a challenge, the climb up Aran Fawddwy is a must. As the highest peak in the south of the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, it offers dramatic ridgeline views and a quieter, more wild alternative to the busier peaks further north.
Local Trails: For a variety of routes starting right on our doorstep, check out the Dinas Mawddwy Walks & Trails guide. It features maps for all fitness levels.
Waterfall Walks: For a truly spectacular experience, we highly recommend the Llaethnant waterfall trail. It’s a breathtaking route that showcases the wild beauty of the local landscape.
-
Yes! A stunning wild swimming spot is just a short walk from the cabin. Follow the Llaethnant waterfall trail to get to it.
